Titan
Titan, from Cutera, uses infrared light for skin tightening; this guide explains how that fits into a trip.
How it works
Titan is made by Cutera and uses infrared light to heat the dermis. Infrared energy passes through the surface and is absorbed by water in the deeper skin layers, with cooling at the surface during use. The practitioner passes the handpiece across the skin in repeated cycles. The intent is to warm the tissue to a level that may encourage a gradual firming response.
Good to know
- Infrared heating is not the same as an ablative laser, and there is no intended wound on the surface.
- Treatments tend to feel like deep warmth, with the doctor adjusting settings as needed.
- Mild redness for a few hours is common.
- Several sessions are often discussed, and the effect varies by person.
What a Titan session means for your travel days
Warmth and a rosy glow may be all you notice, so it is easy to treat mid-trip. Plan a shaded or indoor afternoon afterward.
Since a course may span weeks, ask whether a single session still makes sense for a short stay. If not, it may be better as a taste test with a plan to continue at home.
Titan: common questions
Is Titan a laser?
It uses infrared light rather than a laser beam. The clinic's description is the most reliable guide to what you will receive.
Can it be done on tanned skin?
Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin may need extra care. Tell the doctor about recent sun.
How soon can I swim?
Ask your doctor, as heat and water may bother recently treated skin.
